Make Christmas Cozy with Crate and Barrel

Perhaps because the trees are bare and the evenings so dark, there is a tendency at Christmas to go big on color. But holiday decor in creamy neutrals and incorporating natural elements can be an equally stunning way to celebrate the simple beauty of the season.  When you register for your wedding, a collection of […]

Cozy and Simple Winter Accessories

Cozy and Simple Winter Accessories

knitted and oversized white infinity scarf

The hustle and bustle of the Christmas season is finally over, but the cold temperatures certainly aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Now’s the time to nestle into winter, snuggled up in hearty knits and soothing earth tones. Here are 10 warm and comforting things that we might just be spending those gift cards on!

Above, nothing beats a generously sized infinity scarf, and this winter white softie is pure heaven!  Pair it with other neutrals for a modern cold-weather look.  We all love our boots, but when the wind is blowing hard they can be a bit chilly. Layer with these cable knit boot cuffs in dark moss green (below, left). For the gal that answers her phone even in a blizzard, these teal cashmere gloves (below, right) have a handy feature–a textured index finger so that you don’t have to take your gloves off to take a call.

Weekends spent skiing (or just sipping cocoa in the lodge)? We’re jealous. But mostly because you now have the perfect excuse to wear this marled gray earband (below), a chic alternative to ear muffs.

The best thing about winter in undoubtedly all the sweaters. Use the post-holiday blues as an excuse to purchase something gloriously gray.  Above, this boatneck sweater with its interesting texture goes well with a pair of dark jeans and few accessories.  Looking for lighter layers? Try a cashmere-wool blend wrap (below, left) or a cardigan that will also transition well into spring (below, right).

Right now is definitely the time to simplify. And whether you are cutting out extra sugar, caffeine, or clutter, keep your accessories equally understated.  These adorable studs are the style equivalent of going back to basics.  My favorite are these sweet golden arrows (below, left), but newly engaged friends would probably adore this “love” set (below, right).

Don’t forget to moisturize! Even when covered up in knits, your skin is super thirsty. Hydrate lips with a healthy balm (below, left), and keep your hands pretty with nourishing, rich hand creams (below, right).

5 Holiday Decor Themes from Cozy to Modern

5 Holiday Decor Themes from Cozy to Modern

lodge style Christmas home decor with pillows in red and white

When it comes to holiday decor, we all have different style preferences.  Some of us like to keep it warm and cozy, others prefer to highlight the stark beauty of the winter season. As you think about creating your registry list in the months ahead (we’re looking at you, newly engaged!), make sure to remember holiday decor items you will use for many Decembers to come.  Here are 5 holiday decor looks from our friends at Crate and Barrel. Which style are you?

Above, this room is all about creating a cozy vibe. And this room was relatively easy to transform into a holiday retreat. First, register for red and white pillows that will play well off of your neutral-colored furniture. Second, bring down your snuggliest blankets from storage. Add a tree, and you have a charming decor theme.

Next, do you love traditional decor with trendy elements?  If so, this classically decorated room (below) is for you!  Since metallics have dominated this year, you’ll notice the of-the-moment touches of gold and silver in the ornaments, wrapping paper, and champagne bucket. Otherwise, this room uses traditional details like white wool blankets and stockings, a red amaryllis centerpiece, and white string lights. As you look towards registering for holiday items, consider products that you can add to year after year, such as the stocking hangers and votives along the mantel.

Are you a Christmas kid at heart? Do you still kinda, sorta, maybe believe in Santa Claus? Then, decor brimming with childlike whimsy is for you and your home!  Register for bowls featuring fun illustrations of trees and presents, as well as a tiered stand for all of your favorite yuletide goodies (because, really, isn’t it all about the cookies?).  Add an infusion of bright colors and plenty of hard candies and you have a playful atmosphere worthy of anyone on the nice list.

Whether you celebrate a holiday other than Christmas, or you just prefer a break from all the hubbub, many decor themes can be streamlined and more sedate.  Above, this wintry mantel incorporates the best of the season without being too “Christmasey.”  Register for these large glass hurricane lamps and you won’t be disappointed–you can use them for any decor during the winter season and long after December.  Head outside on a nature walk to gather pretty pine cones, woodcuts, and branches to complete your look.

Keep it modern and sleek with this minimalist holiday room (below). White garland with red birds to add some color (you could also use berries) and texture to this dining space. Loosely arrange flowers in a vase and pick up a seedling at the local nursery to use as a fetching centerpiece.

No matter what your holiday decor style, you can find the perfect items to register for at Crate and Barrel!
